Cancellations & Refunds
Stuff happens. Plans change, someone gets sick, appliances break, the AC needs a new part, your trip is cut short due to an emergency back home, the event was postponed, hurricanes, tropical storms, pandemics. We've seen it all. All the potential obstacles that force you to pivot.
We understand these things happen. We hope you do too! But to ensure we're on the same page, here are some important details on policies we have in place to protect you, our company, the houses and their owners.
CANCELLATION POLICY
Coastal Accommodations cancellation policy is as follows:
All reservations canceled 30 days or more from check-in date are subject to a $50 cancellation fee.
1. Guests will receive 100% refund 30 days or more before check-in. Subject to the $50 cancellation fee.
2. Guests will receive 50% refund 14-30 days before check-in. Subject to the $50 cancellation fee.
3. Guests are not entitled to any refund in the event of a cancellation on or after the date that is fourteen (14) days prior to the Check-In Date. Not subject to the cancellation fee.
Example Reservation Cancellation: Your reservation is set for the nights of 6/1 through 6/5. You cancel on April 15th and you receive your full deposit back but you're charged the required $50 cancellation fee. However, if you cancel on May 2nd, you receive 50% of your down payment back but you are responsible for remitting the $50 cancellation fee.
Under specific circumstances, at is sole and absolute discretion, Coastal may negotiate these terms; provided, however, there should be no expectation of refund or relocation due to any mechanical or systems failure or service interruption to the Property. No expectation of a refund for canceled sport events, fishing charters, anything that is beyond Coastal Accommodations control.
PLEASE CONSIDER PURCHASING SUN TRIP PRESERVER TRAVEL INSURANCE. This will insure any unforeseen cancellations covered under the premium, such as illness, death, travel interruptions, and so forth.

CATASTROPHIC EVENTS & EMERGENCY EVACUATIONS
If a catastrophe, act of God or another event of forced Majeure (hurricane, tornado, earthquake, flood, fire, the act of war, insurrection, rebellion, pandemic, etc.) or any situation simply beyond Coastal’s control impairs the vacation rental, Coastal is not responsible for finding alternate lodging for the renter or for the renter's financial losses related to transportation or alternate lodging. There will be NO REFUNDS OR CREDITS FOR EMERGENCY EVACUATIONS. The threat of a hurricane, flood, or tsunami is always present during certain months of the year in Virginia Beach, Virginia, and Guest expressly assumes this risk by entering into this Agreement.
Coastal suggests Guest consider Travel Protection Insurance to secure their vacation investment and mitigate financial risk. There will be no refunds of any kind for evacuations.
Please don't be that person who finds a popcorn kernel and demands a refund. Our team is human, sometimes we make mistakes. We will always be accountable and readily available to remedy. We simply request patience, compassion, understanding and some flexibility when renting a vacation home. Things break, a crumb may still be hiding, a dog hair was forgotten. We shoot for the moon, always, but if you see something amiss, please communicate respectfully.
Guests understand and agree that COASTAL ACCOMMODATIONS cannot guarantee against mechanical systems or appliance failure during the rental term; however, Coastal will make every reasonable effort to have repairs completed efficiently. Guest expressly covenants and agrees to notify COASTAL ACCOMMODATIONS immediately upon the occurrence of any damage to the Property or discovery of any condition on the Property which Guest believes is unsafe or is in need of repair.
COASTAL ACCOMMODATIONS has a maintenance team available for any repairs or emergency calls in the event of damage or any failure in the operation of the Property’s appliances and systems.
Guest acknowledges, assumes and understands that the risk of renting a Vacation Property includes the risk of things malfunctioning, needing repair, needing replacement or maintenance attention. These efforts will always be top priority and timely among the COASTAL ACCOMMODATIONS team.
However, a broken appliance, an HVAC unit that needs repair, anything that is fixable yet out of COASTAL ACCOMMODATIONS control is not cause for refund. COASTAL ACCOMMODATIONS swears to be available instantly for these immediate matters and as long as the issue at hand is not directly affecting the overall health and well-being and usability of the Property, Guest understands there will be no refund.
