ViBe Creative District Second Saturday kicks off NEW Farmers’ Market Location and Summer Concert Series with Commonwealth Brewing

The ViBe Creative District

Thanks to Kate Pittman, Executive Director of the ViBe Creative District here in our local neighborhood, we’re now aware of some fun Saturday happenings this summer. Check out the details here:

(Virginia Beach, VA) June 4, 2018

The ViBe Creative District nonprofit announced today that the public is welcome to attend this Second Saturday events which include: The Old Beach Farmers Markets (including Green and Art Markets in a NEW location) from 9am to noon and a NEW summer concert series called “Commonwealth ViBez” from noon to 10pm.  Both of these events will take place in ViBe Park at the corner of 18th Street and Cypress Avenue.

NEW LOCATION OF GREEN AND ART MARKETS
Now in its 11th year, the Old Beach Farmer’s Market, Art Market and Green Market continue every Saturday morning all summer long. This Saturday, a new configuration of the markets begins—moving the Art and Green markets away from on-street vending on 19th St over to ViBe Park at the corner of 18th St & Cypress Avenue. The main Farmer’s Market remains in the parking lot of Croc’s 19th St Bistro at 19th & Cypress Avenue. Due to planned construction on 19th Street beginning this week, the Green and Art Markets are moving from the roadway of 19th Street over to ViBe Park at the corner of 18th & Cypress (adjacent to the Famer’s Market at Croc’s). This will be the new home of the Green and Art Markets due to City of Virginia Beach 19th Street Road Improvement construction breaking ground this week; the road project is expected to last 2 years. See MAP below.

NEW SUMMER CONCERT SERIES – “Commonwealth ViBez”
The ViBe Creative District nonprofit is partnering with Commonwealth Brewing on a new concert series in ViBe Park two Saturdays a month in June, July and August. These six events are FREE AND OPEN TO THE PUBLIC. Each month on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays, three bands will play on ViBe Park’s performing arts stage from noon to 10pm providing the public with an opportunity to enjoy live music, pop-up vendors and craft beer. Visitors are encouraged to bring their favorite beach chair or a blanket to enjoy the music. The event series called “Commonwealth ViBez” is a collaboration between the nonprofit and the craft brewery that will feature the summer concert days where the drinks, food and music will all be themed for the occasion.

The goal of the partnership is to activate ViBe Park with new and exciting fine, performing and culinary arts, invite pop-up vendors to participate in the creative arts district and fundraise to support ViBe’s year-round programming and events.
